The programme for Year 9 is based on the foundation of vital language and literature skills and the building of capacity and capability of students to engage actively at school, at work, and in society. The emphasis of the course is to provide the knowledge base for success at senior levels of academic endeavour in both English and other chosen disciplines.
As well as the central topics listed below, students are expected to maintain a high level of reading for enjoyment and engage with literature constantly through extracts and close reading tasks.
