Year 11 Food & Nutrition                                                                                 MCert

Course Statement:

In this course, students will develop extended knowledge of nutrients and their role in a healthy diet. They will study food hygiene and safety, methods of cooking, food preservation, the theory of baking and patisserie, and food preparation techniques. Through multiple practical experiences, students will develop extended food preparation skills using a wide range of techniques and commodities. They will also learn how to adapt recipes to suit a range of needs. Students will gain valuable life skills and be introduced to career opportunities in the health and nutrition, and hospitality sectors.
