9TEX - Textiles

This course introduces students to a technological approach focusing on expressing creativity, whilst gaining confidence in the specialist range of machinery.  The programme includes aspects of environmental and sustainability issues, dye techniques to create various effects, textile applications and construction. 

Outcomes are a bag for use, and a Hoodie incorporating dye and vinyl cutting techniques.

• Design ideas for a bag to answer a brief.

• Environmental dye techniques investigated.

• Construction of a tote bag using a broad range of materials and techniques.

• Make a Hoodie- developing techniques to research, design and adapt.
