12 Art Painting - NCEA Level 2

Course Statement:This course allows the opportunity to explore a wide range of painting and drawing processes and techniques. Students have the opportunity to research and develop ideas in paint while working towards presenting a two-board folio submission on a personally selected topic for external assessment. A wide range of processes and techniques are explored to allow students to succeed in the area they most engage with. The programme includes an opportunity to visit galleries as part of their research.

  • Research and analysis in established practice within painting
  • Drawing skills using wet and dry media
  • Watercolour techniques
  • Printmaking techniques
  • Acrylic painting and mediums
  • Art making conventions related to drawing and painting
  • Developing ideas using selected media into paintings towards a portfolio submission
