The Year 10 mainstream English course continues to develop a mix based on English Literature and English Language skills in anticipation of more senior studies in English. The aim of the course is to ensure students build expertise in responding to the strands of English - writing, reading, oral, viewing and listening.

As well as the central topics listed below, students are expected to maintain a high level of reading for enjoyment and engage with literature constantly through extracts and close reading tasks.

  • Writing for Specific Purposes
