Macleans College Subject Pathways for 2025


SUBJECT SELECTION

New students coming into Year 9 can now select their options for 2025

Option selection for current Year 9-12 have until the end of week 9 of Term 3 is now closed.

Important Information:

  • All subject selection is done in SCHOOLPOINT, you will need to be logged in!
  • Compulsory subjects will be visible but cannot be selected.
  • The course selection tab is individualised for each student.
  • If you are in Year 11 or 12 and wish to choose Cambridge (CIE) subjects you must select !Cambridge Pathway as your first option choice.
  • If you do not know what you want to do in your future, do not worry, that is extremely common. Keep your options open.

How to choose subjects I can take:

  • Click  'Subjects I can select'.

  • Read the subject information and entry requirements.

  • Select the subject ie 12COM - Commerce - NCEA Level 2. 

  • Favourite list - Add, View or Remove ‘Favourites’.

  • Add a subject - ‘+Select as one of my Option Subjects’. 

  • Add another subject -  'No Subject Selected' or ‘View Subjects I can choose’.

  • Select ‘Backup Option Subjects.

  • View chosen subjects -  'View Selected Option Subjects’.

  • Review subjects -  'Complete my Course' to save your choices.

How to apply for an Exemption:

Before applying for an exemption please check with your teacher whether you can choose this subject.

  • Click on the 'Course by Faculty'.

  • Find the subject for which you would like to request an exemption to study.

  • Select the 'Request Exemption' button.  

  • The teacher in charge will review your request but it may only be accepted after your end-of-year results are available.

  • You must add a backup subject in case your exemption is not granted.

  • What are you interested in?

  • What are you good at?

  • What do you enjoy?

  • Do you know what you want to do/study when you leave school.

  • What do the tertiary course providers suggest?
